Next in Vogue lit up The Capitol Theatre last week, bringing together some of the city’s biggest names in fashion. The event, now in its second year, celebrates the realms of fashion, innovation and culture, all while nudging the next generation of creatives forward. From two days of insightful conversations, tech showcases and fashion exhibits to one very spectacular gala to cap off Vogue Singapore’s fourth anniversary, there was much to glean from the three-day extravaganza. The evening kicked off with brand partners like Royal Salute and Don Julio, as our stylish guests indulged in delicious libations, whilst Forged by Vow served caviar canapés as fine pairings.
Any combination of this industry’s key players would all but guarantee a major fashion moment—and naturally the Next in Vogue black carpet was a sight to see, even hours before the gala had begun. The dress code this year was ‘Les Enfants Terribles: The Art Of Rebellion’, and the evening saw our esteemed guests deliver that and more. Academy-nominated actor Stephanie Hsu, for instance, stepped out in a coquette-coded Giambattista Valli frock, which she described as a rebellion against her usual red carpet instincts that typically lean edgy. Private investor and style influencer Wendy Long, on the other hand, leaned into the provocative spirit of Jean Paul Gaultier, appearing in a bi-material dress from the label and turning heads in a gravity-defying headpiece courtesy of The Humid House.
The gents held their own, too, straying away from predictable tux-and-bow tie fits. Jack Gohr was dressed in Emporio Armani, opting for wintry and oversized layers, whilst embellished with Swarovski. Shawn Soh arrived in an all-green look, referencing his online moniker ‘PlantBro’, wearing Yves Salomon, Rick Owens, and Jean Paul Gaultier. But of course, the sartorial spotlight had to shine on regional designers as well, with many attendees choosing to represent Behati, Adeline Esther, and Sebastian Gunawan, among others.
